SUMMER CAMP 2008
The Lord of Creation
Thank you …for your continued support in your prayers and presence in this important ministry.
We are about to step out and prepare for our summer season.
Mission Outreach:
We will be traveling one time a month to a local nursing home to share our witness in song. Our plan is to schedule the singing on Wednesdays, meet at the church at 6:00. Drive to the location, sing for 20 minutes, and be back at the church by 7:15.
All children who need car seats will need to ride with their parents.
Each child will need to have a permission slip to attend these sessions, and parents are very WELCOME to come along with us.
Mission Statement/ Expectations:
1. The expectations that I have for our choir are the same as our mission statement, “that our children learn to praise the Lord and share His love in song.” If you think about it, if they are doing this, it is one of the greatest things they’ll ever do.
2. All parents and people involved with this ministry should cover this group in prayer.
3. Each year I like to set aside some time to work on the mechanics of singing. This issue will become more important as we go out in mission. Children should be aware that we will be doing some vocal exercises and singing in parts, so they will need to exert extra effort
KIDZ PRAISE
Choir has been open to those under 5 (with parents present in rehearsal) for the last two years. I believe it has worked well and has given our youngest members a chance to learn and sing. If you have further questions about the inclusion of our youngest singers in this ministry, please call me 770-345-2954.
Housekeeping:
There are a few housekeeping rules that should be shared:
1. The altar area is special. Children will be asked to stand there for rehearsal, but otherwise, the area should be kept special and apart. The sanctuary is our gathering place. The playground outside is our playground. Please go over this with your children.
2. Children need to respect each other: kind speech, including everyone in your groups, keeping hands away from others.
3. Children need to respect the instruments and microphones. See Housekeeping #1.
4. Children should learn their music and parts when asked. If a child is having problems, parents should notify me immediately (never stress over a song or part).
5. Our rehearsals should be open and fun-loving. If the children try their best to learn what is expected of them, this ministry will be blessed over and over.
6. During rehearsal time, I expect that any adult who is in attendance is watching and listening for problems. If a child is having troubles with self control, they will be asked to sit down until they feel ready to return to the group.
7. If adults would like to chat, please use the Sunday School room.
Children/Youth all ages through grade 12 are invited. This ministry's goal is praise God and to tell all people of Jesus' love while learning about music, singing and drama. .
